the (HER)story project
the (HER)story project is dedicated to collecting the stories of women and men who are dedicated to the promotion of women's rights. To that end, the (HER)story project is dedicated to educating about the struggle for women's rights and engaging the public in the discussion of women's rights and women's history, starting with your own histories. As Alice Paul author of the Equal Rights Amendment wrote "I always feel the movement is sort of a mosaic. Each of us puts in one little stone, and then you get a great mosaic at the end." Sadly, our movement's mosaic isn't complete and we still have a long way to go to complete our story. You can help by adding your own stone to the mosaic, sharing with us your stories, your pictures, your art, your history. There are three primary areas that we will focus on: Stories, Conversations, Action.
Stories: Please share your personal stories, your family stories, any story. Tell us how you became a feminist? Or why you don't identify as a feminist. Tell us who you are. You can upload photos, share poetry or artwork. Let’s build a collection of personal histories.
Conversations: What are your questions? What are the hot topics in current events? What history do you want to learn more about? Start conversations with others in the network. Post a question or an article. Women are talking. Join the conversation.
Action: The first step is education and raising awareness, the next is action. If you are part of an organization or know of events, please let us know. Whether it is your local Take Back the Night or a woman’s book club lets all begin to take action to ensure that our mosaic becomes complete and that our herstory is heard.
